NCPF Annuals 2022 Results
Well done to Blyth Photographic Society on finishing joint 8th in the Corder Trophy (mono prints) with 63pts; 1st place went to Northalletron CC with 70pts. Blyth PS took 3rd place in the Myles Audas Memorial Trophy(PDI's) with 68pts; 1st place went to Keswick PS with 70 pts.. Blyth PS took 3rd place in the Bewick Trophy (Colour prints) with 72 pts; 1st place went to Keswick PS with 76pts. Congratulations to Alison Leddy who won the Grier Trophy for the best creative print with 'Nesting Gannet'. This same image also secured the Joan Rooker Trophy for the 'Best overall print & EI. Highly commended's were awarded to; A Canny day for fishing by Alison Leddy (Mono print) Raven Black by Alison Leddy (Colour print) Grey Heron fly past by Ian Danielson (Colour print) Cambois Pipe by Alison Leddy (Colour print) Red eyed tree frog by Alison Leddy (PDI) Red Arrows fly past by Bill Broadley(PDI) Four images were selected for the Selectors Choice Portfolio; Grey Heron Fly past by Ian Danielson (Colour print) Doing the loop by John Cox (PDI) Aged by Alison Leddy (PDI) From Another Dimension by Alison Leddy (PDI) Two images were selected for the Alliance selection; Nesting Gannet by Alison Leddy (Colour Print) Red eyed tree frog by Alison Leddy (PDI) Well done to all those that took the trouble to put an entry into this year NCPF Annual competition. Summer 2022 Outings announced The summer outings for 2022 have been announced at the recent committee meeting. These will be our first outings since 2019. They are as follows; Fri 22nd April 2022 - End of Season Dinner at The Keel Row Pub at 7pm Sun 1st May 2022 - Thorpe Perrow, Bedale at 11am Sun 8th May 2022 - Northumberland Zoo, Felton at 11am Sat 2nd July 2022 - Ushaw College, at 10am, £9 Sun 17th July 2022 - Raby Castle, Darlington at 11am Thurs 18th August 2022 - Chippy Night at The Coastline in Blyth, at 6:30pm For more details of the venues for the outings - Click here 7 Way interclub PDI Theme Competition 2021-22 Results On Sunday 20th March 2022 Amble PS hosted the 7 Way Interclub Projected Digital Image Theme Competition. Each of the *Seven clubs in the NCPF Northern Area were invited to enter 10 images with not less than 1, and no more than 2 images to be submitted in each of the following categories - Landscape, Interiors, Portraits, Sport & Action, Photo Journalism, Flora & Fauna, Still Life, and Fantasy, Myth, Legend or Religion. The judge for the competition was Joseph Duffy LRPS, CPAGB, APAGB of Whickham Camera Club. After scoring all 60 images (Wooler did not enter) in a close competition it was not possible to split the top two clubs; Blyth PS and Morpeth CC who ended up joint winners and will share the trophy over the next 12 months. There were two images that scored the maximum 30pts, these were "Love is like a butterfly" by Alison Leddy of Blyth PS and "Tyne Sunset" by Glyn Trueman of Morpeth CC 1st. Theme (Holidays) Competition 2021-22 Results The theme Competition took place on Thursday 17th March 2022 judged by Alan Chambers of Stokesley Camera Club. The standard of the entry was high and the judge had a very difficult job on the night. The Mono print section was won Rick Young with Howards Way. The colour print section was also won by Rick Young with Fountains Abbey. The winner of the PDI section was John Cox with Sligachen Waterfall (Isle of Skye). Open Print Competition 2021-22 Results The Open Print Competition took place on Thursday 3rd March 2022 judged by Chris Graham of Ashington Camera Club. The standard of the entry was high and the judge had a very difficult job on the night. The Mono section was won by Alison Leddy with Portrait of a Gannett. The colour section was won by Ian Danielson with Grey Heron Fly past. All placed images are displayed at the top of the page. The full results and images can be found here, then scroll down the page. NCPF Club Championship 2021-22 The NCPF Club championship took place at Clara Vale on Sunday 13th February 2022. The competition included a PDI and Print section. Blyth PS had an entry of 20 images in the PDI section. Our finishing position has yet to be confirmed. However we had two 15 point images from the six overall 15 point images. The images were 'Love is like a butterfly' by Alison Leddy and 'Gangster Twins' by John Cox. After much deliberation by the three judges, it was a unanimous decision to award 'Love is like a butterfly' the overall winning image in the PDI section; well done Alison. 4 Club interclub PDI Competition at Whitley Bay via Zoom On Tuesday 8th February 2022 via Zoom and hosted by Whitley Bay the 4 team inter club battle took place between Blyth PS, Cramlington C.C, Cambois C.C and Whitley Bay PS, The judge for the evening was Dave Phillips of Hartlepool CC. It was a close competition with first and fourth placed clubs only being 6 points apart. The overall winners on the night were Blyth PS with 269 points. Blyth's Alison Leddy also had the highest scoring image with 30pts; Love is like a Butterfly. Final Placings: 1st - Blyth PS - 269 pts 2nd - Whitley Bay PS - 266 pts 3rd - Cambois CC - 264 pts 4th - Cramlington CC - 263 pts Northern Area Inter Club Print Competition 2021-22 The Northern area inter club print competition took place on Thursday 27th January 2022; hosted by Ashington CC at the borrowed venue of St Mary's Church hall in Blyth. The competition included a Mono and Colour print section with 4 images from each club in each of the two sections, 56 images in total. The judge for the evening was David Hall. The eventual winners on the night, were Amble PG with 223 points; winning both sections on the way. In 2nd place was Blyth PS with 211 points and 3rd place went to Ashington CC with 206 points. The winning print in each section were from Amble's Dave Jones with his image 'Faith' in the mono section. The winning colour print was from Blyth's Jim Welsh with his print 'Title Fight'; both winning images scored the maximum 30 points. To see a break down of each round click here. Final Placings: 1st - Amble PG - 223 pts 2nd - Blyth PS - 211 pts 3rd - Ashington CC - 206 pts 4th - Cambois CC - 202 pts 5th - Alnwick CC - 199 pts 6th - Morpeth CC - 198 pts 7th Wooler CC - 187 pts Remote Competition Congratulations to Alison Leddy on taking 1st and 3rd place in the remote competition, with Weathered Hubard Squash and Amble Marina. 2nd place went to Jim Welsh with Points man with coupling chain. The three judges; located from around the country, were Zoe Archer, Kieran Murray and Jill Bunting (many thanks from the club members for there time and feedback) All successful images from each round can be viewed here. Northern Area Digital Image knockout competition Blyth Photographic Society hosted the Northern Area digital image knockout competition with guest clubs Amble, Ashington, Cambois, Morpeth and Wooler; unfortunately Alnwick where unable to put together an entry. The three judges for the afternoon where Joseph Duffy, Gerry Adcock and Peter Maguire. The competition involved four knockout rounds. 1st round involved all 6 clubs with 15 images each. The top 4 scoring clubs (Amble, Blyth, Morpeth & Cambois) proceeded into the Trophy semi final in Round 2, while the two lowest scoring clubs(Ashington & Wooler) progressed into Round three to challenge for the Plate. The two highest scoring clubs (Amble & Blyth) in Round 2 progressed to the Trophy Final in round 4. 1st Round 1st Blyth 179 2nd Amble 176 3rd Cambois 167 4th Morpeth 164 5th Ashington 161 6th Wooler 153 2nd Round Plate Semi Final 1st Amble 183 2nd Blyth 177 3rd Morpeth 168 4th Cambois 167 3rd Round - Plate FINAL 1st Ashington 166 2nd Wooler 165 4th Round - Trophy FINAL 1st Amble 189 2nd Blyth 180 Well done to Amble PG on winning the overall competition and to Ashington for lifting the Plate. A big thank you to all visitors from the competing clubs and thank you to the three judges for giving up their Sunday afternoons to look at some fantastic images. NCPF Annuals 2021 Results Well done to Blyth Photographic Society on finishing joint 5th with Amble PG in the Myles Audas Memorial Trophy. This competition is for the best club entry of PDI's in the Annual NCPF competition. Blyth were only three point behind joint winners Gosforth CC and Keswick PS. Congratulations to John Cox on winning the Hilton Trophy for Best Creative PDI with Gangster Twins. This is the third consecutive year that a Blyth PS member has won the Hilton Trophy, with Alison Leddy lifting it in 2019 and 2020. (Does this mean we get to keep it?) The aim of Blyth Photographic Society is to encourage and promote photography in all its forms.

Which scored the max 15 points in the Annual Club championship and scored 30 points in the 4 club interclub competition at Whitley Bay in which Blyth PS ended up as winners. The image also scored the maximum 30pts in the 7 way interclub theme competition in which Blyth ended up joint winners with Morpeth CC.
